Dermal Fillers

From birth, we all have an abundance of collagen in our skin. Unfortunately, as we age, the production of collagen within our body slows down. This begins in our mid-to-late 20's. From our 30's, collagen levels in our skin decrease by 1-2% each year.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps with hydration and healing. HA is responsible for keeping skin hydrated, glowing and elastic.

Our body's natural reserve of HA diminishes greatly over time, and by the time we reach our 40s, we have just 50 percent of the HA we had during our younger days. That drop is why many people also notice physical signs of ageing, like an increase in fine lines and wrinkles for some and increasingly dry and dull skin.

Despite all this being a natural process in ageing, many people can be left feeling less confident in their appearance.

Dermal fillers can be an amazing solution to correct and slow the visible signs of these changes to the face.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers can also 'fill' and 'smooth' areas such as nose to mouth grooves (nasolabial lines) and 'sad lines' (marionette lines), while enhancing and re-adding structure and finesse to areas such as lips, cheeks, jawline, chin.

At Bespoke Aesthetics, Sally's choice are those fillers that are primarily made of hyaluronic acid (HA). As HA is naturally occurring in the body, these fillers are some of the safest on the market as they naturally biodegrade over time. HA fillers also give a more natural looking appearance, due to their soft gel-like consistency, that is easily moulded to the facial contours.

What does Dermal Filler treatment involve?

Sally will carry out a full facial assessment. She will listen to your concerns and discuss what you want to achieve from your treatment.

We will then discuss your dermal filler choice – some last 6-9 months and others last 9-22 months.  Sally will only use FDA approved fillers.

All HA dermal fillers used at Bespoke Aesthetics contain lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to help with a more comfortable procedure.

A topical anaesthetic cream can be also be applied, prior to treatment.

Dermal filler procedures typically take 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on treatment.

Following treatment, you will be provided with written aftercare advice and Sally's contact details should you have any concerns.

When will I see results?

HA dermal filler treatment results are visible almost instantly.  However, the full effects of treatment will be evident 2 weeks post treatment.  Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate and 'plump' your filler treatment further.

How long does treatment last?

HA dermal fillers used at Bespoke Aesthetics typically last from 6-22 months, dependent on your choice of filler used. Other factors such as lifestyle can also affect the filler longevity.

Are there side effects?

Common side effects include swelling, bruising or redness, pain or tenderness, around the treatment area.  Within one week, these side effects should subside.  If you do experience such side effects, they are usually mild, and do not affect daily activities. Allergic reaction is extremely rare in the use of HA dermal fillers. As an experienced, registered nurse, Sally has been taught to recognise and treat this complications with urgency and care, so you are in safe hands.
